Minute Maid Heartwise O.j.

Saturday, February 19: With the end of the skiing world - Lofoten 2010

put on your skis almost on the shore of a fjord. Climb vertically for 7 to 8
- 900 meters, and once you see a top in front of you is the ocean. Then look at
the left and see the other islands, fjords and other high seas. Look to the right
in the distance and see the coast of Norway.
So you discover that you have arrived on skis at the end of the world.
Then turn the skis downhill and before you've 7-8-900 meters down
almost always in powder, pristine slopes along, "broken" only by the traces you left
rising, accompanied - perhaps - by the flight of
eagle coming out from a ridge.
are the Lofoten Islands, beyond the Arctic Circle, off the coast of northern Norway
, divided from the mainland by a stretch of sea that calls
Vestfjorden.
Small islands lined up one after the other that between March and April, when
the days begin to lengthen, become a real paradise for ski mountaineers
.
Easily reached by air, without spending crazy figures, which
optimizes the timing of their trip, without losing precious days
with long journeys by car.
Belle summer, even more so in winter thanks to the contrast created
own snow and sea, the weather that can change during a climb
three, four, even five times, from a thick snow to
illuminating glimpses blue skies, biting wind and the sun shining
.
Islands strange names for us: Austvågøy (where there is the "capital" Svolvaer), and then
Vestvågøy, Flakstadøy, Moskenesøy and finally, the most distant,
not linked with other roads, bridges or tunnels, but only by ferry, and
Værøy Rost.
The mountains, however, are called Pilani, Stauren, Kvittinden, Rundfijellet
or Torksmannen. The mountains which you can see from the
vessels fishing for cod, and when you're in the same valley cod
see them hanging a little 'anywhere to dry, ready to be our cod.
E 'this the world we have met in eight days of intense touring
in March 2010 and we offer a movie in just over twenty minutes
says the effort, the fun and excitement of that
our trip at the end of the world.
